Krista Haugland is a classically trained pianist and singer-songwriter based in Des Moines, Iowa. Her music draws influence from artists like George Winston, Bruce Hornsby, Bonnie Raitt, and Eva Cassidy. A former student at Victor Wooten’s Music and Nature Camp in Tennessee, Krista blends classical technique with heartfelt songwriting and a deep appreciation for musical storytelling.
She studied at Luther College and Grand View University in Iowa, where she interned at Great Plains Recording Company. During her time there, Krista composed the piano arrangements and full musical score for Angels In The Snow, a musical theatre production written by Dr. Doug Larche. The show, centered around a love story during the fall of the Berlin Wall, featured a fully orchestrated studio recording with the original cast. Krista also performed live for members of the United Nations during the show's 10th anniversary.
At Great Plains Recording, Krista connected with local musicians, launching her career as both a solo performer and a collaborator in various bands. In 2009, she partnered with BJ Edwards—a Chicago-based bassist and touring musician with Lionel Richie—to produce her debut album Under It, released in 2013.
Following the release, Krista joined Maurice the Fish Records, an independent label in Seattle, and was featured in “Evening of Keys,” a showcase of eight professional pianists in Tacoma, WA. She also co-hosted NWCZ Radio’s “The Aquarium” and performed at notable venues across the Pacific Northwest, including The Triple Door in Seattle.
In 2015, Krista earned a certificate from Jonathan Goldman’s Sound Healing Intensive program, expanding her work into the realm of sound healing.
Krista continues to perform and record locally, both as a solo artist and with bands such as The Heath Alan Band, Stark Raving Madge, Jah-Blues, Julius Leisure, and SP3.
